Yes — that continuous run from indoors to the water is one of the things we design for first on a Lake LBJ home. We map zones across the great room, the deck, and the dock, choose weather-rated speakers for everything outside, and tune the whole path so the song follows you down to the boathouse without a gap or a drop-out. You start a record at the kitchen and it is still there when you reach the lake.
Will outdoor speakers survive a lake summer?
The right ones will. We install weather-rated L-Acoustics and JBL Synthesis speakers built for heat, humidity, sun off the water, and storms, and we place and seal them so a Blue Lake deck or a dock plays clean in August and still performs years later. We never push indoor speakers outside on a lakefront home and call it close enough — the lake destroys them.
My great room is huge and full of glass. Will the audio sound harsh?
Not when it is planned for. A big open great room with lake-house glass reflects sound and can turn harsh and uneven, so we choose speaker placement and dispersion for that exact room and tune each zone after install. We use Steinway Lyngdorf room correction where it earns its keep, so the great room sounds full and even instead of bright and scattered.
Can you build a real two-channel listening room in a lake house?
Yes, and it is some of our favorite work. We build dedicated rooms on Steinway Lyngdorf with room correction tuned to your space, so the soundstage sits in the air in front of you with the instruments placed where the recording put them.
