A Windsong Ranch new build tuned to the sun

Tunable LED is the right move when the walls are still open. We are pre-wiring lighting in Windsong Ranch and Star Trail new builds where every fixture in the home can shift color temperature through the day — cool, energizing light at the kitchen island in the morning, neutral office light through the work hours, warm dinner-party light at six, candlelight color at ten. The home walks through its own circadian rhythm without anyone touching a keypad. Ketra fixtures where the color discipline matters most. Lutron control behind the scenes.

Most Prosper and Celina builders default to standard 3000K LED everywhere. That is fine. It is also a missed opportunity in a new build, because tuning happens only at the moment the wiring is going in. We coordinate with your GC during framing to plan dedicated lighting circuits where the tunable fixtures land, and we pair the system with Lutron motorized shades so the daylight and the artificial light work as one. The Light Farms primary suite goes to dim, warm 2200K at eleven o'clock without anyone deciding. The whole house follows the sun on its own.

How We Do It in Prosper & Celina

A circadian plan room by room — We assign each room a daily light curve — kitchen brightens at six, primary suite warms at nine, dining room shifts to warm at five. The plan exists before the wiring begins.

Coordination with your builder during framing — Dedicated tunable lighting circuits, neutral wires at every keypad location, and the right load classes per fixture all get pulled during your Prosper or Celina rough-in.

Fixture specification with your designer — Where Ketra makes sense — usually principal rooms, kitchen, primary suite — we specify them. Where standard tunable Lutron-controlled fixtures suffice, we use them. The decisions match the budget and the room.

Lutron control system install — The control system that drives the tunable fixtures is centrally configured. Every keypad layout, every scene name, every load assignment in writing.

Daylight integration with motorized shades — Artificial and natural light work as one. The morning scene lifts the shades, the artificial fixtures fill in only where the daylight is short. Energy use drops as a side effect.

A seasonal recalibration visit — Three months in, we come back and tune the timing of the scenes to the actual sunlight your specific lot is getting now that the home is occupied. The scenes are tuned again in the opposite season.

Who We Help in Prosper & Celina

  • You, building in Windsong Ranch and ready to do tunable LED while the walls are open
  • You, in Star Trail, with an architect who already wants Ketra in the principal rooms
  • You, in Light Farms, who wants the kitchen to feel like morning and the primary suite to feel like evening
  • You, in Mustang Lakes, planning a long-term home and willing to invest in lighting that does not age out
  • You, who has felt the difference between good circadian lighting and standard fixtures and cannot unfeel it

The Frustrations We Hear Most

  • The builder's default 3000K fixtures feel wrong in the morning and wrong at night
  • The kitchen island is too cool for dinner and too warm for prep work
  • The recessed cans dim down but not warm-dim — they stay clinical even at low levels
  • The primary suite has no way to soften the light naturally at bedtime
  • There is no plan in place for any of this and framing starts next week

The Questions People Actually Ask.

Does tunable LED actually make a felt difference, or is it a luxury detail?

It is felt every morning and every evening once you have it. The kitchen at 5000K morning light is a different room from the kitchen at 2700K dinner light. The primary suite walking down to 2200K at ten o'clock prepares you for sleep the way the home you grew up in did before LEDs replaced everything.

We are building in Windsong Ranch. Does the builder normally handle this?

No. Builders use standard fixed-color LEDs as the default. Tunable LED and circadian control is an integrated specialty — it has to be planned with your GC during framing, with the right circuits and drivers, before drywall closes.

Will the system require us to touch keypads all day?

No. The circadian schedule runs in the background. You touch a keypad only when you want something specific — a dinner party scene, a movie scene, a kids-bedtime scene. The daily light curve happens on its own.

Can Ketra fixtures be added later, or does it have to be the original build?

They can be added later, but the wiring class and the driver locations have to be in place. In a Windsong Ranch build, we either install Ketra now or we install standard tunable fixtures on a Ketra-ready electrical class so the upgrade later is a fixture swap rather than a rewiring project.
