Bringing Solar Into the Rest of Your Home

Dallas-Fort Worth gets two hundred and thirty-four sunny days a year. Plenty of light, plenty of reason to put panels on the roof of an estate in the Park Cities, Colleyville, or Trophy Club. The trouble is rarely the panels. It is the four apps. Solar in one. Battery in another. Utility in a third. Your home in the fourth. We bridge all of it — solar production, battery state-of-charge, grid import and export, whole-home consumption — into the Savant dashboard you already use.

One screen answers every question at a glance. How much sun is on the roof right now? Am I selling surplus to Oncor? Is the Powerwall full before the evening peak? What did this month actually cost me? We pull the data through manufacturer APIs, local Modbus, or CT-clamp monitoring depending on your inverter brand, then quietly normalize everything into a single, readable picture.

How the Integration Is Built

For SolarEdge — the most common system across DFW — we combine the SolarEdge monitoring API with local meter-level current transformers. The API gives us fifteen-minute production intervals and lifetime statistics. The clamps give us second-by-second granularity. Enphase IQ microinverter systems talk to us through the Envoy gateway on your local network, panel by panel. Useful when one tile is shaded by an oak that grew faster than expected.

Battery storage adds the layer that changes everything. We integrate battery storage through its local gateway API, reading state-of-charge, charge and discharge rate, and your backup reserve. Enphase IQ batteries and Generac PWRcell deliver the same depth. Your scenes can listen to all of it. When the Powerwall slips below twenty percent, non-essential loads quietly step aside. When solar production runs ahead of consumption, the system warms the pool or pre-cools the house — storing energy in water and air instead of selling it back to Oncor at half-price.

Automation for Texas Energy Markets

Texas runs a deregulated electricity market, and many DFW homes ride time-of-use or indexed plans where the price changes by the hour. Our integration listens. Off-peak at four cents a kilowatt-hour? The home pulls from the grid and saves the battery. On-peak at fifteen to twenty-five cents? The home draws from the battery and lets every panel on the roof go further.

For homes on wholesale ERCOT-indexed plans, we set automated alerts when real-time pricing crosses the line you draw. Fifty cents a kilowatt-hour, and the system sheds load and switches to battery before you have noticed anything is happening. February of 2021 would have looked different in a home built like this. We also send you a weekly email — production, consumption, grid interaction, and the quiet number that says how much your panels saved you compared to a home without them.

The Questions People Actually Ask.

Do you install the solar panels themselves?

No. We partner with vetted local solar installers who handle panels, permitting, and the Oncor interconnection. Our work begins after the panels are alive — we integrate the monitoring and control layer into your home so everything finally lives in one place.

Can I see per-panel production data?

With Enphase microinverter systems, yes — every panel reports for itself. SolarEdge with power optimizers gives you panel-level data through the SolarEdge portal, which we mirror onto your Savant dashboard. String inverters without optimizers report only string totals. We will tell you which one you have during the walkthrough.

What happens during a power outage if I have battery storage?

Your battery handles the automatic transfer to backup power. Our integration keeps the smart home alive on battery, and the load-shedding scenes step in to stretch runtime — pool equipment, exterior lighting, guest wing HVAC, all gracefully on pause. The house feels normal in a moment that is not.

How does this work with Savant Power Monitoring?

They were made to live together. Savant Power Monitoring reads what every circuit spends. Solar integration reads what your panels and battery produce and store. Together you see a complete energy diagram — sun to battery to home to grid — with a dollar on every line.

Production, storage, and consumption — one dashboard, every line a dollar.
