The clients wanted a television in the room. The designer would not allow one. Future Automation gave them both — an eighty-five-inch OLED that lives inside the ceiling and drops on a silent linear actuator when the family wants to watch the Cowboys, then retreats and seals itself away behind a plaster panel that matches the surrounding ceiling perfectly. The room remains the room. The television exists only when summoned.

Engineering, Coordination, Patience

Future Automation work begins in framing. We coordinate with the architect and builder during rough-in to specify the ceiling joist layout, the chase for power and signal, the structural backing for the lift housing. The mechanism is fabricated in the UK to the inch — and once it arrives, there is no second chance to make the ceiling fit. We measure three times, then once more before we cut.

Installation runs three to seven days per mechanism depending on complexity. The lift itself is mechanical art — sealed bearings, brushless motors, end-stop sensors that bring the panel to a kiss rather than a thump. We commission every motion at every speed, then return at the one-week mark to retune for the slight settling that always happens in a finished home. The lifts carry a five-year manufacturer warranty and run quietly for decades. We have units installed in 2014 that still sound exactly as they did the day they were delivered.

The Questions People Actually Ask.

Is a hidden TV lift worth the cost over a simple wall mount?

For most rooms, no, and we will say so. A wall mount or a Frame TV solves the problem cleanly. Future Automation earns its place in the rooms where the architecture must not acknowledge the television — the formal living room, the primary bedroom with a view nobody wants to interrupt, the dining room with a frescoed ceiling. When the room is the priority, the mechanism is the answer. Otherwise it is overkill, and we tell you so before the quote.

How quiet are the lifts in operation?

Quiet enough that a sleeping spouse does not stir. The mechanisms run on brushless linear actuators with sealed bearings and rubber-isolated mounts. The loudest sound is usually the soft brush of a panel reaching its seated position. We measure on commissioning at less than thirty decibels at three feet — quieter than a refrigerator hum.

Can you retrofit a Future Automation lift into a finished home?

Sometimes, with caveats. A pop-up lift in a credenza is often straightforward. A ceiling drop in a finished plaster ceiling means opening structure, adding blocking, running power, and rebuilding the ceiling around the housing. We assess each project on site before promising the outcome. New construction is always cleaner — and we coordinate with builders across Frisco, Westlake, and Southlake during framing for exactly that reason.

What happens if the lift fails years from now?

Future Automation engineers the mechanism for serviceability. Every motor, sensor, and limit switch is replaceable from the access panel we build into every install. We carry spares for the most common units and can typically restore service within forty-eight hours. The lifts have a long history of running a decade without incident — but when something does need attention, we have already designed the path back in.
