Every project begins with a wiring plan that walks the home one room at a time. Living areas get Cat6A drops, in-ceiling speaker runs, and low-voltage for keypads. The master suite gets data, speakers, shade-motor wire, and thermostat cable. The home office gets a few Cat6A drops for the desk and a place in the ceiling for an access point that will not stutter on a video call.

Media rooms and dedicated theaters get the most generous wiring on the property: HDMI 2.1 or fiber-optic HDMI to the projector, seven to nine speaker runs for immersive, mounting points for acoustic treatment, and dedicated 20-amp circuits for the rack. Every cable in the home runs back to one place, and that place is planned like a room of its own. We design a centralized equipment closet — a real room, or a generous closet on the first or second floor — with ventilation, dedicated circuits, and physical security. This is where your processor lives. Your network switch. Your AV distribution. Your amplifiers. Your security recorder. Your surge protection.

On larger DFW estates, we will plan a primary equipment room with satellite closets in distant wings or detached structures, stitched together by fiber. We coordinate with your HVAC contractor to keep the closet cool — racks generate real heat, and a Texas attic will eat unprotected gear in a single summer. When should I contact TruDefinition during my new home build?

During architectural design, before framing. That is when we can shape equipment closets, ceiling speaker locations, and conduit pathways into the home itself. At the latest, before insulation and drywall — once the walls close, the cheap window closes with them.

What cable types should I run even if I am not sure I will use them?

At a minimum: Cat6A to every room, speaker wire to the main ceilings, conduit to every exterior camera location. Pulling extra cable while the walls are open costs almost nothing compared to retrofitting it later. We always over-wire. Future you will be grateful.

Can my electrician handle the low-voltage wiring?

Use a dedicated low-voltage contractor — that is what we are. Low-voltage has its own routing rules, its own separation distances, its own termination standards. Our technicians live inside structured wiring every day, and we warranty our cable for the life of the home.

What happens after the pre-wire is done?

After rough-in, we photograph and document every cable before drywall covers it. After paint and flooring, we come back for trim-out — terminating cables, mounting devices, racking equipment, programming the system. That second phase usually runs two to four weeks, depending on how rich the home wants to be.
